Practice Orientation

How I Work with Clients

I view the therapeutic relationship as the most important part of psychotherapy. Without the presence of a safe and secure attachment between the therapist and client, I don’t believe that much personal growth and change can happen. Therefore, I work toward creating an experience for my clients that elicits a sense of psychological and emotional safety in my presence, a clear sense of hope in what is possible, and an assurance that their personal values and beliefs will be respected whether or not they differ from my own.

Although I may make suggestions about what I perceive to be the problem and make recommendations for problem solving, I ultimately believe in my clients’ inherent right to ultimately decide for themselves, the right course of action for their lives.
